Psalms 139:16 says

“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

As Christians, how often we hear this verse, “all the days ordained for me…before one of them came to be,” and knowing it applies to the grand design of our lives, the paths we travel and the destinations we reach, often never expect it to be revealed within the intricate fabric of the details of our lives.

Jeremy and I got engaged in 2018; his proposal by the shores of Cape Cod on a beach that held the best of my childhood memories is often what stands out most to me.  The ring he gave me is lovely, though, having it placed on my finger as confirmation of our engagement is not the prominent moment of that time; we were both going through such a dark period in our lives; he was rebuilding his, I was still putting out the fires in mine.

The ring symbolizes our commitment to one another, our intention to become one, and that is all that mattered; he could have given me a ring made out of rolled tin foil and I would have been thankful.  The ring is a unique design; a twisted channel style setting made all the more special, when we customized the wedding band to match it with the diamonds from a ring my grandmother had given me many years ago.

I see lots of wedding rings every day; that may sound odd to say, but as a dog trainer, I see people’s hands as I help them with leash handling techniques, teach them the fundamentals of rate of reinforcement, focus on body handling exercises for their dogs, and more.  In the thousands of hands I have seen since 2018, I have not seen another person wearing my ring.  Until I met Shelby…

God’s ways are truly so incredible.  To know that years ago Shelly’s husband was picking out a ring for her, and that years later hundreds of miles away, Jeremy was picking out a ring for me, is to fully understand God knew all along that one day Shelly and I would meet and see His hand at work in every detail.
